Qualifications & experience:
- Minimum 3 years experience in a “Hands-on” transport scheduling and route allocation role.
- Knowledge of Heavy Vehicle Transport Regulations (Fatigue, Mass Management, Load Restraint, and Chain of Responsibility)
- Strong commitment and understanding of Work Health and Safety regulations.
- Mechanically minded and understanding of linehaul equipment.
- Proven problem-solving ability with a solution-orientation outcome.
- Ability to work in a Team and Work under leadership.
Tasks & responsibilities:
• Safe, cost-effective, practical allocation and utilisation of all company vehicles and equipment.
• Supervise all state transport / operational functions for the relevant depot.
• Ensure all transport and operational tasks planned are allocated safely and efficiently each day, correctly documented, and recorded accurately in all company SharePoint, TMS register or systems.
• Conduct regular internal audits of drivers and sub-contractors to reduce all non-compliance risks and implement corrective actions as required to prevent further non-compliance.
• Ensure all depot reporting, documentation, incident reporting, driver non-compliance, and all required driver documents are completed accurately and promptly each day.
•Familiar with and adhere to and enforce all HSE, incident, safety, reporting, policies, and procedures at all times.
• Work as part of the national transport operations team to ensure the safe and efficient running of the fleet across the Apex network in conjunction with all key business stakeholders.
• Ensure all phone calls/emails are answered and replied to promptly and efficiently in a courteous manner.
• Foster and maintain strong daily relationships with key customers and operational staff.
• Ensure customers special requirements and time slot requirements are adhered to at all times.
• Maintain documentation/records of work performed for customer recharge.
• Plan and record all direct report's daily leave absence and leave planning requirements.
• Plan and allocate following day driver requirements, Northam dog runs, booked equipment repair, maintenance or servicing requirements and allocated transport tasks to ensure all pickup and delivery, servicing, dog run instructions are fully understood and adhered to.
• Daily communication and interaction with national operations team to ensure equipment utilisation is maximised for all local PUD and interstate linehaul requirements.
• Maintain constant supervision of all direct reports throughout shift including actively monitoring GPS, fatigue systems.
• Daily review of driver run / trip sheets, work diary pages to ensure they are correct, completed in full, approve and file as per company policy with any inconsistencies reviewed with drivers daily and any corrective actions required implemented and recorded appropriately.
• Daily audit and review of driver hours, pay and trip sheets, dwell time incomplete or missing POD’s, aged or unidentified freight, DIFOT, scanning compliance.
• Ensure drivers, sub-contractors comply with all relevant company, state and federal legislative requirements incorporating all load restraint, Mass management, Chain of Responsibility, Fatigue management, NHVL, WAHVA, Dangerous Good requirements.
• Conduct any depot ancillary checks/stocktakes required.
• Any other duties as requested by management on a daily basis.
