Food2Soil Operations Technician

Food2Soil is a Canberra region-based business that creates biofertiliser from commercial food and coffee waste via a fermentation process. The factory (called the Food2Soil Brewhaus) is similar to a  brewery, with large fermentation vats and a bottling/bagging station. It is an orderly and clean workplace with a high functioning and respectful working team.  

We seeking a general Brewhaus Operations Technician who can help with all hands-on manufacturing and packaging tasks. As this is an innovative business and require someone who is practical and an efficient problem solver, ideally someone who is passionate about having a positive environmental impact. 

Skills and Attributes

• Competent, organised individual who has the ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks accurately
• Creative thinker able to problem solve and consider innovative solutions to process or production issues
• Ability to work as part of a team 
• Flexible and willing attitude and a good work ethic
• Good  communication skills
• Highly self motivated and directed, ability to work independently
• Current driver's license and transport

Additional:

• Trade background an advantage but not critical
• Basic plumbing and electrical knowledge preferred
• Power tool experience preferred
• Basic computer skills
   

Duties and Responsibilities;

• Machine and equipment operation to facilitate processing on site
• Monitoring equipment
• Maintaining equipment 
• Adhering to work health and safety procedures at all times
• General labouring and manual handling
• Assembling products or components
• Packaging products or components for shipping 
• Sorting and inspecting for quality assurance purposes
• Basic batch logging

Hours: starting with 16 and up to 40 hrs per week as the business grows. Most of those hours will be on site in Hume ACT. Starting January 2024

Remuneration: ranging from $35-43 per hour, to be negotiated with the successful candidate depending on experience.
