Job description

Education Officer

Be part of an inspired and passionate team who make a difference to the lives of vulnerable road users every day by teaching our award-winning education programs to schools and community groups. The RACQ Education Team have a learning and development focus that enables us to give back to the Queensland community by teaching road safety to over 60 000 young people each year.

As an RACQ Education Officer you will deliver our high school road safety education programs Docudrama, Driver Distraction and Driver IQ throughout Brisbane and South East Queensland. Day to day, you will be travelling to schools in our Education cars, teaching our engaging and interactive programs and liaising with schools to coordinate their bookings. When not in schools, you have the flexibility to work from home, at RACQ Eight Mile Plains or our Edward Street Offices.

The role is based in Brisbane and will include regular travel throughout greater South East Queensland and can involves trips for up to a week at a time across regional and remote Queensland.  Standard working hours of 7.5 per day with variations to start/finish time as required to accommodate bookings.  This is a full-time, permanent position.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience in teaching engaging high school education programs in a classroom environment.
  • Excellent classroom management skills including the ability to build rapport with students and demonstrate compassion and understanding of the challenges facing adolescents in the road safety space.
  • Demonstrated capacity to differentiate and contextualise your teaching.
  • Flexibility and effective strategies for managing and responding to change. Time management
  • Works well within a team environment, in person and virtually, with demonstrated capacity to produce high quality work without supervision and is comfortable working independently.
  • Good understanding of a range of Microsoft programs and A/V related technology.
  • Excellent interpersonal, phone and written communication skills.
  • Have a growth mindset and take accountability for your actions and decisions.
  • Tertiary qualification in Education.
  • Current open C class Driver Licence.
  • Queensland College of Teacher Registration OR Suitability to Work with Children Card (Blue Card).
