Karara Mining Limited (KML) is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.
With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.
We have a great opportunity for an experienced and highly capable Operator Maintainer – Boilermaker to join our Maintenace team based in Geraldton at the Karara Export Terminal.
You be joining a high performing team that is responsible for executing safe and efficient operations for Automated train unloading, cargo stockpiling, ship loading bulk cargoes via a control room or with a Radio Remote Control unit, mooring vessels for the companies dedicated berth facility and shipment sample station activities.
In addition you shall be enabled to execute daily scheduled preventative maintenance work.
This role operates within the Port of Geraldton on a 5 days on and 3 days off / 4 days on and 2 days off roster.
This is a residential role and all applicants must reside within the Geraldton area.

- Provide and share technical knowledge.
- Identify, implement and communicate improvement opportunities in all work place areas
- Ability to Monitor, Measure, Communicate and report on issues or business risks identified within the workplace.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with all internal and external departments and stake holders in KML
- Perform all work to the specification and quality advised by the equipment manufacturers.
- Ensure that all statutory and organisational OSH&E policies and requirements are adhered to by yourself and other members of our team at all times.
- Perform assigned work tasks for scheduled and unscheduled work.
- Writing and improving job procedures for various maintenance tasks
- Develop methods and improvements of safe work practice.
- Provide support and guidance when needed for those members in your team.
- Participate and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Engage in development activities to extend the range of your competence.
- Attend Scheduled training as part of development plan
Essential Qualifications and experience;
- Mechanical Trade Qualification – Mechanical Fitter, Machinist or Certificate III in Engineering
- WA 'C’ Class Drivers’ Licence
- Must be able to obtain/hold an MSIC
- Tickets: Dogging (DG), Basic Rigging (RB), Elevated Work Platform (WP), Confined Space Entry & Working at heights
- Strong experience within fixed plant maintenance and understanding of process plant equipment
- Understanding of scheduled maintenance systems and work order processes, problem solving investigations and reviews
- Must have Australian Citizenship or hold a valid visa with permission to work
