Ophthalmic Technician/Medical Assistant/Nurse

Precision Eye Clinic is an ophthalmology clinic located in Sandy Bay, Hobart. The doctors at the clinic see a high volume of patients, ranging from infants to the elderly with a diverse range of eye health conditions. They insist on the highest standards and attention to detail to achieve excellent outcomes for their patients.

Role Description

This role is for an Ophthalmic Technician/medical assistant/ophthalmic nurse to work alongside the doctors, assisting them to deliver excellent care. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional care and performing a range of duties that include; taking patient histories, conducting vision tests, administering eye drops, assisting with minor surgical procedures and post-operative care. 

Qualifications

You must be able to effectively prioritise in a busy multi-tasking environment and have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Whilst previous experience working in a similar role is preferable, it is not essential as comprehensive training will be given.

Renumeration will be based on experience and qualification.

Responsibilities

• Conducting visual examinations and ophthalmic scans.
• Assisting in the organisation of planned operations
• Liaising with referrers & private hospitals/day hospital
• Assisting in minor procedures on site
• Managing patient enquires
• Organisation/ ordering of clinic stock

Qualifications

• Experience working in a busy clinic or similar environment. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients, colleagues, and doctors
• Attention to detail, accurate documentation of patient information and maintaining electronic health records
• Computer literacy and experience with medical software
