About the position
The Optical Technician is a key member of the optical manufacturing team whose role and responsibilities will include completing all necessary tasks to enable the development, manufacture, testing and assembly of project deliverables.
The role will primarily be to assist and take responsibility for the fabrication, handling, and testing of a range of optical and non-optical components.
You will be responsible for:
- Understand of the processes and equipment for the manufacture of high precision optical components from a range of materials.
- Review project instructions, specifications, and drawings to plan fabrication requirements and testing of precision optical components and opto-mechanical assemblies
- Design and manufacture tooling for manufacturing optical components.
- Set up and testing of optical components as required, using various types of metrology equipment and optical testing equipment.
- Maintenance Management of equipment and workshop area.
About You
Optical Technician needs to be result oriented with attention to details. You will require good communication and influencing skills along with practical engineering ability. You will be required to lift weight up to 20 Kg, so need to be physically fit.
Experience
- At least three years’ experience in an optical manufacturing environment, and/or
- At least three years’ experience in a mechanical manufacturing environment.
Qualifications:
- NCEA Level 3 equivalent with achievements in Math, English, Physics (essential)
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering (preferred)
