About the position
The Senior Optical Technician is a key member of the optical manufacturing team whose role and responsibilities will include completing all necessary tasks to enable the development, manufacture, testing and assembly of project deliverables.
The role will primarily be to take responsibility for the fabrication, handling, and testing of a range of optical and non-optical components. As required the role will supervise and mentor junior team members.
You will be responsible for:
- Understanding of the processes and equipment to lead and supervise the manufacture of high precision optical components.
- Review, plan and execute new processes, plant, and products.
- Cost & Time management by recommend design and material changes.
- Involve in the review of bid requirements and specifications.
- Lead and supervise the material management & manufacturing of optical components.
- Lead and supervise the assembly, integration, alignment, and testing of opto-mechanical assemblies.
- Work Health & safety management for team and yourself.
About You
Senior Optical Technician needs to be result oriented with attention to details. You will require good communication and influencing skills along with practical engineering ability. You will be required to lift weight up to 20 Kg ,so need to be physically fit.
Experience:
• At least ten years’ experience in a high precision optical manufacturing environment, and/or
• At least ten years’ experience in a high precision mechanical manufacturing environment
Qualifications:
• NCEA Level 3 equivalent with achievements in Math, English, Physics (essential)
• Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering (preferred)
