Orchard Hand

About the role:

The Orchard Hand role will work closely with the Orchard Manager to assist with the day-to-day operation of the orchard. This role will be able to complete all orchard activities from orchard detailing, pruning, irrigation, and other general orchard activities. The successful candidate will ensure that all orchard activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

                •              General tree husbandry tasks

                •              Assist with orchard spraying activities 

                •              Assist with harvest and pruning

                •            Machinery operation

                •              Irrigation operation, maintenance and installation

                •              Any adhoc tasks required to ensure the property remains well presented

                •              Comply with workplace health and safety policies

About you:

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently. You will be passionate about what you do and possess the following skills and experience: 

                •              A current driver’s licence

The following qualifications are desirable, but not essential:

                •              Forklift licence 

                •              Chemical handling certificate

                •              First aid certificate 

                •              Qualification in agriculture or horticulture 

                •              Experience in operating and maintaining agricultural equipment

                •              Agricultural or horticultural field experience
