Lucaston Park Orchards is a 4th generation fruit farm in the heart of the Huon Valley Tasmania. We grow three main fruits Cherries, Apples, and Raspberries. We also grow some Plums, Pears, and Quinces. Here at Lucaston Park Orchards we pride ourselves with producing the best tasting fruit possible.
The Job
We are looking for a Production Supervisor to manage fruit production at our orchard. We offer diversity in our workplace and in the work itself, with no two days the same.
Duties and Responsibilities
Recruit, train and supervise farm workers
Supervise and direct workers in the cultivation, sowing, spraying and harvesting of apples, cherries and raspberries
Ensures procedures are followed and deadlines are met for seeding, pruning, harvesting and other activities
Liaise with Orchards Manager and Agronomist regarding all aspects of maintenance, tree health, chemical application and harvesting
Monitor weather conditions to ensure optimal fruit and berry quality/quantity and worker safety
Liaise with maintenance team to ensure plant and equipment is operating correctly
Install and maintain irrigation and other orchard infrastructure
Manage supplies necessary to undertake above activities
Ensure work sites comply with OH&S and food safety regulations through training and monitoring of workers
Skills and Qualifications
Certificate III or higher qualification in related field or at least 5 years’ work experience in a similar role
Ability to manage agricultural or seasonal labour
High level communication skills
Desire to be part of and contribute to a regional business and community
Other requirements
Be fit, healthy and agile.
Able to tolerate working in hot, windy or wet weather and in very dirty and muddy conditions.
Ability to pass a colour blindness test.
Be reliable and committed to working long-term for the business.
Required to start between 6am and 7 am - 5 days a week.
Able to work alone or in a team.
Able to learn new skills quickly.
Successful candidates will be offered full-time employment under the Horticulture Award 2020. Salary will be commensurate with experience in the range of $60-80,000 + superannuation.
