Location Profile

Wedderburn is a small rural community in the North Central district approximately one-hour drive from Bendigo. The town has a population of 800 people of whom approximately 200 live on town boundary farms. Students draw from the small communities of Korong Vale, Borung and Inglewood. Our F-12 school has a current enrolment of 183 students.

Central to the strategic direction of Wedderburn College is the improvement of learning outcomes for all students and improvement in student engagement in learning. Our College has a whole school focus on improving the literacy and numeracy of students and on developing a curriculum that is relevant for students in the 21st century. We are committed to the implementation of the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework and to continuous improvement across our whole college.

The College recently finalised building works, which included upgrading the library to a modern Resource Centre with a separate Junior Literacy area, a new administration, and staff work area, a dedicated Numeracy room, Digital Technology Lab, as well as other infrastructure work in College grounds.

Selection Criteria

SC1 - Demonstrate qualification (Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care) experience and skills in co-ordinationg a primary school level Out Of School Hours Care program, incuding program planning and operational activities.

SC2 - Possess technical knowledge and expertise relevant to the position including an understanding of the National Quality Framework and Quality Assurance Process for the Quality Improvement Plan.

SC3 - Demonstrate strong/sound leadership and organsiational skills to plan and implement OR manage a high quality Out Of School Hours Care Program.

SC4 - Demonstrate sound communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders including school leadership, students, parents, collegues, school staff and the wider community with a commitment of excellent customer service.

SC5 - Demonstrate the necessary management and computer skills to maintain records including enrolments, attendances, family details, finances, first aid equipment, medical information and prepare regular reports for the Out Of School Care Program subcommittees to the School Council.

Role

As the OSHC Co-ordinator you will be responsible for the delivery of high quality care to primary school aged children at this service. This position reports to the School Principal. You Will:

  • Lead the session of after School Care.
  • Undertake compliance and documentation requirements during your non-contact time.
  • Develop daily program activities.
  • Implement and abide by program policies and procedures as required.
  • Ensure the inclusion of all children within the service, including those with additional care needs.
  • Undertake the preparation of nutritious food for participants.
  • Provide and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate initiative and capacity to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentialty.
  • Have a high level of professionlism and work ethic.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the design and production of School publications and documents.
  • Provide professional student support services, e.g. therapist and psychological and counselling services.
  • Provide strategic advice on specific support services and their impact on students, school curriculum and services.
  • Manage the use of and access to school resource and reference material.
