Brisbane Girls Grammar School is the only girls’ school in Queensland with its own dedicated Outdoor Education campus (Marrapatta Memorial Outdoor Education Centre), located two hours north of Brisbane in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. All students in Years 7-9 participate in the curriculum-based Outdoor Education Program, with students in other year groups able to be involved in co-curricular activities and experiences in the outdoors.
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Outdoor Education Teacher / Educator to join the team at our Marrapatta campus.
This full-time ongoing position offers an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Outdoor Education Teacher / Educator to contribute to the holistic development of our students within a supportive educational environment.

Your key responsibilities include:
- The delivery of engaging and interactive Outdoor Education lessons and activities to students that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of students
- Leading expeditions, camping trips, and adventure-based learning experiences while promoting teamwork, resilience, and environmental stewardship.
- Provide guidance and support to students in developing practical skills and fostering their personal and social development
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of students during outdoor activities through risk assessment, supervision, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Collaborating with other teachers and staff to integrate Outdoor Education into broader learning experiences
You will require the following:
- Relevant outdoor teaching qualifications
- Relevant instructional and/or proficiency certificates in a range of outdoor pursuits, including canoeing, kayaking, bushwalking, orienteering, mountain biking, challenge ropes course and rock climbing/abseiling
- A passionate commitment to the provision of Outdoor Education to students
- Demonstrated ability to reflect on and evaluate professional practice to enhance student learning and assist students in achieving their full potential
- Curriculum design and collaborative planning experience
- Wilderness First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain)
- Bronze Medallion (or willingness to obtain)
- Involvement in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme
- Manual Drivers Licence
- Experience in driving a four-wheel drive vehicle off-road
- Current Queensland College of Teachers registration (or eligibility to apply) or
- The ability to acquire and maintain a Positive Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
