Overnight Sleep Technician

North Brisbane Sleep & Thoracic provides a comprehensive respiratory and sleep service offering Specialist Thoracic Physician consultations and Respiratory and Sleep investigations. We are looking for an overnight Sleep technician to join our team to perform overnight Diagnostic and Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) sleep investigations on a casual basis between 1-3 nights per week, and to cover annual leave. 

Responsibilities Include:

• Welcome and set up patients for home ambulatory sleep monitoring and in laboratory Overnight Sleep investigations;
• Provide CPAP education, mask fitting and troubleshooting;
• Work independently during a 11-12 hours continuous overnight shift;
• Effectively communicate with patients and staff;
• Actively maintain high level professionalism and patient confidentiality;
• Maintain quality assurance practices and laboratory maintenance as detailed in the North Brisbane Sleep & Thoracic documented procedures;
• Practice standard precautions of infection control to ensure the safety of health care provided to both the patients and staff.

Mandatory Requirement:

• Completed an undergraduate/post graduate degree in science or equivalent with a strong component in human physiology;
• Current certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and basic life support or willingness to obtain within the first month;
• Attention to detail and ability to work autonomously;
• Prior experience in sleep investigations will be highly regarded.

Hours Of Work:

The Employee’s duties are to be completed as a continuous shift between the hours 19:30pm – 06:00am, Monday – Friday. In addition to your nominal hours, you may be required to work up to a 12 hour shift as necessary, to carry out the functions of the role. 

Physical Demands:

The physical demands of this position require the employee to frequently stand, kneel and crouch. The employee must safely regularly lift and/or move up to 5kg, frequently lift and/or move up to 15kg, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30kg.
