The Packaging Technologist role (12-month contract) is responsible for the development and delivery of NPD for our lawn, garden, and home pest categories with sustainability top of mind. Our packaging solutions must support our premium brands, delight consumers with their functionality and quality and meet the needs of our retail partners.

As a critical function within the R&D Team, the Packaging Technologist must collaborate effectively within cross functional project teams to successfully commercialize new products in full and on time.

This opportunity plays a critical role in the future growth of the Yates business through delivery of category leading innovation and sustained leadership of product stewardship initiatives and will work closely with other functions within the Yates business including Procurement, Marketing, Supply chain and other members of the R&D team to develop packaging solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and commercialize innovative and cost-effective packaging and delivery systems across diverse categories
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Supply Chain, Sales, R&D) to understand product performance and cost implications for packaging innovation
• Meet or exceed sustainability targets for packaging in all newly developed products
• Establish enduring relationships with key technology partners, fostering collaboration and innovation
• Prioritize workload to achieve strategic imperatives while ensuring compliance with knowledge management policies and protection of intellectual property
• Maintain compliance with legislation, contractual requirements, safety, and sustainability targets across jurisdictions

Skills & Experience

• Possesses technical expertise in diverse packaging substrates
• Demonstrates proficiency in driving sustainability initiatives within packaging projects
• Exhibits strong collaboration and influencing skills, engaging effectively with strategic technology partners and internal stakeholders
• Displays a motivated and results-oriented approach, striving for high performance and achievement
• Demonstrates problem-solving abilities, innate curiosity, excellent organization, and planning skills. Additionally, holds a degree in Packaging Science or Engineering with 1-2 years of experience
