Packing Shed Supervisor

Zerella Fresh is one of Australia’s largest grower and packers of Carrots, Onions and Potatoes supplying Australia’s leading supermarket chains plus independents and exports.

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Packing Shed Supervisor to join our team on a full-time permanent basis at our Parilla Packing Shed site located in the Mallee region of South Australia.

Reporting to the Packing Shed Manager, the Packing Shed Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that the Packing Shed production meets both short and long-term profit objectives ensuring that customer orders are packed to specification, in full and on time, without incident or injury.

Duties include:

• Ensure that the value of every load delivered to the Packing Shed is optimised and is allocated to the highest value SKUS according to quality and demand.
• Oversee the Packing Shed operations in support of the Packing Shed Manager.
• Must develop and maintain an understanding of the site’s commitment to ongoing compliance with Freshcare Food Safety and Quality Standard.
• Ensure all workers are trained in basic food safety and the Freshcare Food Safety and Quality Standards.
• Coordinate the delivery of harvested produce to the Packing Sheds, providing timely load assessments to the grower and harvester.
• Understand all sales orders and schedule work to ensure 100% DIFOT.
• Utilise and manage cool room stock, ensuring daily stock takes and stock rotation are completed.
• Effectively manage the washing and packing of produce, while overseeing labour costs, to ensure optimal efficiency.
• Train all new employees in machine operation, product handling, customer and system requirements, safe work practices, and any other related functions.
• Ensure safe work practices are followed and the timely reporting of hazards, near misses and incidents.
• Perform condition-based monitoring of equipment and report findings to maintenance team, perform basic maintenance as required.
• Complete standard reporting and compilation of quality and yield data.
• Implement and comply with all Pye Group policies and procedures including WHS, Quality & HR.
• Respond to varying external and internal environments and issues, such that the Pye Group’s performance is optimised and assets are protected.
• All other directions of management to achieve the company’s objectives.

Requirements:

• Three - five years prior experience in food packaging or processing.
• High Risk Work License.
• Prior machine operation experience and basic mechanical aptitude.
• Product quality experience and exposure to a face-paced 24/7 production environment.
• Results focused with functional knowledge of industry processes.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, experience working with multicultural teams.
