Initial contract duration: 6 months
Hours: 4 x 10 hour shifts overnight per week including some weekend work.
Essential Criteria:
- Current NSW Nurse Registration (List A) with AHRPA
- Working With Children Check
- Minimum of 2 years PICU experience
- Minimum of 2 years Paediatric Tracheostomy Experience
- Current Basic and Advanced Paediatric Life Support Skills
- Commitment to Quality Patient Care
- Sound Clinical decision making and problem-solving skills
- Advanced paediatric

Overview:
The successful applicant will be joining a small team of PICU nurses who deliver supportive overnight in-home nursing to a 3yo male with a complex medical history including Costello Syndrome and Dravet Syndrome, tracheostomy and PEG insertions, and who is unvaccinated. Jasper has an 8yo sister and living, proactive parents. The environment is 100% smoke free.
Successful applicant will also be offered a supernumerary shift.
Responsibilities:
- Promote sleep hygiene (ambient light, quiet environment, and cluster cares)
- Monitoring and management of tracheostomy airway
- Monitoring of Vital Signs (HR, temp, Sp02, RR). Has Owlet Sock monitoring System
- Monitoring for seizure activity
- Monitoring for pain and discomfort, providing physical comfort such as holding, patting, and rocking as needed
- Pressure are care
- Basic hygiene needs (nappy changes, mouth and eye care)
- Monitoring and management of PEG stoma site
- Ability to follow an individualised care plan to provide patient-centred support
- Communicate changes in condition to parents
- Communicate reports to CNC Nursing Agency
