About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and motivated Occupational Therapist to work across the pediatric caseload.
Qualifications
Bachelors of Occupational Therapy
Your duties will include the following:
Provide quality transdisciplinary Early Childhood Early Intervention services to children and their families.
Provide discipline-specific assessment and outcome-focused intervention to children 0-16yo with a range of disabilities and their family.
Provide service utilizing the following service principles;
- Transdisciplinary Key Worker model
- Family Centred Practice
- Strengths Based Practice
- Natural environments
- Evidence-based practice
Work flexibly and be adaptive to a changing environment.
Develop and strengthen networks with key stakeholders.
Utilise a range of formal and informal assessment tools appropriate to the child and family.
Assess and organise the prescription of assistive technology to enable children to develop the maximum function.
Continual and specific planning and evaluation of the effectiveness of programs.
Actively participate in professional development activities and enhance service delivery by informed best practice
Write comprehensive reports as required
To maintain a high standard of communication regarding the management of caseload
To practice within the code of ethics of the Occupational Therapy profession
To manage your own performance and work tasks
To consistently keep client progress notes and timesheets up to date
To maintain regular communication with admin and supervisor regarding workflow and capacity
To manage handover of cases in the event of leave
Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 3-4 years' work experience in assessing clients' emotional, psychological, developmental and physical capabilities using clinical observations.
- Experience in evaluating clients' functional potential in their homes and in various other related environments and recommending environmental adaptations to maximise their performance.
- Experience with disabilities such as ADHD, Autism, Developmental delay, speech defects, fine motor skills and cerebral palsy.
- Dealing with family members, carers, employers, teachers, and other related persons about adapting clients' home, leisure, work and school environments.
- Be open to a mix of clinic and community work.
- Experience in working with other Health Professionals in overall case management of clients and providing specialist advice to specific client groups requiring rehabilitation, third-party compensation and other specific tasks.
- Registration with AHPRA (or close to obtaining)
- Flexible and approachable manner
- Confidence in working within a multidisciplinary team
- Passion for improving the quality of life for children and/or adults with disability
