Job description

Hi there!👋 We are so glad you want to know more about who we are, and who we hope to welcome next to our Remarkable You family.

Get to know us and the world we want to create in our local backyard.

Our vision is to build an inclusive community where children and their families feel connected, accepted, valued and celebrated for their unique strengths and differences.

As a Mum, I have been on both sides of the therapy room, as a carer and as an OT. These lived experiences have fuelled my desire to build a team of OT’s who recognise the importance of supporting the whole family!

We are a 100% values-driven business. Everything we create for our families is run through our value filters. Why is this important? Because we are striving to contribute to the broader community through the work we do, to achieve our vision and mission.

Passionate people: We go the extra mile for our families. We are passionate and invested in the progress of our clients and we love what we do!

Empowered families: We empower families with confidence to achieve what matters most, and we want to do the same for you.

Connected communities: We are building an inclusive community and strive to help families feel connected within their own local communities.

Get to know our team.

Outside of our clients and services, creating a safe and supportive workplace for our fabulous team is a big part of our why! Our team consists of 8 OT's, 3 AHA's and 3 client care/ administrative team support.

When asked to describe our team/ service they shared the following:

“Genuine and flexible”

“Caring and encouraging”

“Welcoming and fun”

“Amazing mentoring”

“Supportive and engaging”

”Inclusive and approachable”

“Lovely and nurturing”

“Collaborative teamwork”

“Family friendly and dynamic”

We are fortunate that our team size allows us the opportunity to work together closely and collaboratively to build services and projects utilising our creativity and individual strengths and interest areas.

You can be guaranteed that your feedback and contributions will be valued and that I will be invested in working alongside you to support your growth and development clinically and professionally every step of the way.

The structure of our service

We currently operate as a hybrid service which includes a mix of mobile and clinic-based services. We LOVE being in clients’ homes because it allows us to create meaningful strategies and provide coaching for families within the context of their life. We have a beautiful clinic space in North Lakes with splashes of colour, natural light and cafes on site and within walking distance. We also have two rooms within a Speech Therapy clinic in Aspley with natural light and space to play and move.

We cover a large region between Brisbane North and Moreton Bay, but each therapist is delegated suburbs they cover with very reasonable travel requirements which we will agree on together with you. If you prefer to be mostly clinic based, that's ok too!

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assessing children 0-13 years of age with a range of developmental conditions. You will work within your scope of interest areas, age range and have a say about the clients you work with.
  • Helping families voice what’s important and setting goals that are meaningful to them.
  • Developing therapy plans and delivering these in community, clinic and home environments.
  • Completing high-quality clinical documentation, including treatment notes and assessment reports.
  • Running FUN, inclusive and Neurodiverse affirming therapy and interest-based groups for children who attend our clinic.
  • Collaborating with various allied health providers including allied health assistants and speech therapists in our shared clinic space.
  • Supporting early childhood centres who engage us by utilising their 'Kindy Uplift' funding. Work collaboratively within classrooms to help teachers and educators apply strategies and recommendations based on your observations and the needs of the centres we work with.
  • Participate in regular internal and external professional development, quarterly team building activities, fortnightly peer support and team meetings where we share and connect with one another.

You’re the kind of person who:

  • Is enthusiastic and committed to continuing professional education and evidence-based practice.
  • Enjoys working with children and bringing a fun and creative approach to therapy.
  • Is passionate about using a family-centred approach.
  • Is willing to learn and engage in a coaching model to support carers and their children.
  • Has a strong work ethic and desire to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Is reliable and committed to providing a high quality of service to clients.
  • Values a workplace where your opinion in the operations of the business (for example, exploring ways to level-up the client experience) is valued and needed!

What you’ll get:

  • A fun, supportive and welcoming working environment where you can flourish.
  • Weekly clinical supervision with OT/ Director (access to ad hoc contact as needed in between supervision) and loads of peer support.
  • Plenty of opportunity to shadow our OT's to get to know our team and the way we work when you start.
  • A manageable calendar with achievable community reach that increases as your confidence and knowledge increases so you can feel empowered to do your best work.
  • On clinic days (or mobile days when you're in the area) enjoy lunch together as a team from 12pm-12:45pm.
  • A set of your own resources for mobile days and ample resources in clinic for your use.
  • Allocated time blocks in your week to focus on clinical administration tasks.
  • Personalised administration support from our fabulous client care team (weekly check ins to help you prioritise and delegate tasks off your list! This support is booked into your calendar each week and used as necessary).
  • Team Time- held weekly alternating between online and in person (this time is used in a variety of ways including sharing resource and therapy ideas, internal PD, Zoom breakout rooms where you can connect with your peers, case reviews, sharing wins together, eating cake, service development and improvement while eating cake ;-) and team games).
  • Career progression- we want you to grow as we grow and value those interested in leadership. Developing a team leader role is in our sights for 2025.
  • Up to $2000 annual Continuous Professional Development allowance so you can develop in your chosen clinical and professional areas.
  • Whole-team professional Develpment day. Last year we were fortunate to learn from Kerry Evett's from Sense Up about sensory processing!
  • Support to explore involvement in non-clinical aspects of the business, e.g., social media or using personal talents and skills to build groups or other innovative programs for our clients (where interested).
  • Flexible working arrangements: mobile/clinic/working from home.
  • The ability to negotiate hours and days of work with full- time or part-time options available.
  • Travel reimbursement for using your car.
  • Work phone

What you’ll need:

  • Recognised Bachelor of Occupational Therapy.
  • Full registration with AHPRA (if you are working towards registration, we are open to supporting your return to the profession).
  • Professional indemnity insurance.
  • Your own car and current QLD driver's licence.

If you’ve read this far, you could be our next team member! To apply, please send me (Shayla) a cover letter that includes three interesting things about you, why you love being an OT, what you think contributes to an inspirational workplace, and what sort of support you are looking for, along with your CV via SEEK or email.

I can’t wait to hear from you! - Shayla 😊
