The Painting Trades Worker/Painter is responsible for preparing surfaces, applying paint, varnish, and other finishes, and ensuring a high-quality finish on a variety of surfaces. This role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent craftsmanship, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.Job duties and responsibilities:
- Surface Preparation: Clean, sand, and prepare surfaces for painting, ensuring all surfaces are smooth and ready for the application of paint or finishes.
- Painting and Finishing: Apply paint, varnish, stains, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and sprayers, achieving an even and professional finish.
- Repair and Maintenance: Repair and touch up paintwork on existing surfaces, addressing issues such as peeling, chipping, or fading.
- Colour Matching: Mix and match paints and finishes to achieve the desired colour and texture, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
- Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and client specifications.
- Documentation: Maintain records of work performed, including time spent, materials used, and project progress
- Experience: Proven experience as a Painter or Painting Trades Worker, preferably in a commercial or industrial setting.
- Skills: Proficiency in surface preparation, painting techniques, and the use of various painting tools and equipment.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and precision in executing tasks.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for long periods, climbing ladders, and lifting heavy objects.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in painting and finishing.
- Communication: Good communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with team members.
- Certification: Relevant trade certification or apprenticeship completion.
- Specialized Skills: Experience with specialized painting techniques or finishes (e.g., faux finishes, murals).
