Veteran Legal’s mission is to help veterans receive everything they are entitled to and we do this by assisting veterans to navigate the complex process of applying for compensation and/or Retrospective Medical Discharges due to injuries or conditions they suffering during their service.
About the role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Paralegal to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for working with clients by assisting with the provision of legal advice in relation to Retrospective Medical Discharge applications.
Responsibilities:
- Assistance with the provision of legal advice to clients in relation to Retrospective Medical Discharge (RMD) applications.
- Collation of medical and personal information and associated evidence to support RMD applications.
- Completion and submission of RMD applications.
- Communication with Commonwealth Super Commission (CSC) and assist with completing requirements for client applications to be progressed.
- Administration to document client engagement where necessary and/or obtain informed consent to receive related services from Veteran Legal or partnered entities.
- Assistance with the development of Veteran Legal processes as required.
- Other related duties as reasonably required by Veteran Legal.
Requirements for the role:
- Proven paralegal experience
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to work as part of a team
- A desire to help veterans and make a positive impact on their lives
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments
Qualifications:
- Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) or equivalent
- Qualifications in the legal industry
- Experience in a paralegal position
- Experience working with veterans is desirable but not essential
