Allygroup is seeking experienced paralegals to join a federal government agency. This is an opportunity to gain experience in professional services and create long-lasting contacts in a government agency. The position is in a fast-paced and exciting environment dealing with numerous complex pieces of legislation. Candidates will be assisting in the department's legislative branch.
This is a 6-month secondment opportunity with the possibility of 12-month extensions.
Travel may be required but will be subject to mutual agreement on a case-by-case basis.
Candidates must be based in Canberra and be available at least 4 days per week.
Candidates must also hold a baseline clearance.
Duties and responsibilities involve the management of:
- subpoena and notices to produce on behalf of the Department
- locating materials
- responding to court orders
- reviewing and redacting documents
- producing documents for court, which have been reviewed and signed off by the lawyers
- assessing scope of materials produced, to ensure compliance
- other paralegal and administrative tasks falling within the remit General Council - Dispute resolution and litigation.

Ideal candidates will be completing a law degree or possess relevant knowledge and skills.
