Parent/Carer Intervention Worker - Allied Health Grade 2 or 3, Nursing 3 or 4

About the role This is a Permanent Part Time position at 45.60 per fortnight within the Mental Health Service.

You will be responsible for providing time limited, evidence-informed interventions to parents and carers within the Child and Youth Hospital Outreach Post-suicidal Engagement (HOPE) Program. In doing so, you will help parents and carers to build distress tolerance and problem solving skills as well as children in managing their mood and affect regulation problems and suicidal feelings. What you’ll achieve: Parent/Carer Intervention Worker (Allied Health Grade 2, Nursing Grade 3)

  • Provision of care through outreach locations including St Albans, Hoppers Crossing and Travancore campuses
  • Provision of time limited evidence based interventions for Parent/Carer training
  • Provision of child centred parenting interventions in partnership with the HOPE program parents/carers

Senior Parent/Carer Intervention Worker (Allied Health Grade 3, Nursing Grade 4). In addition to this, you’ll achieve:

  • Provide supervision to students/interns from within your discipline
  • Provision of support to the HOPE Program Coordinator in providing support and guidance to the team
  • Embedding new initiatives and engaging in continuous quality improvement of service provision within the program

Your skills and experience: Parent/Carer Intervention Worker (Allied Health Grade 2, Nursing Grade 3)

  • Current Registration as a Psychologist, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Registered Nurse with the applicable Health Practitioner Board.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in working in true partnership with other community mental health teams and community/family welfare agencies to plan and implement effective interventions for children and young people experiencing complex mental health challenges

•    Formal training and clinical skills in parent based interventions using various specific therapeutic modalities relating to the management of mood and affect regulation.

Senior Parent/Carer Intervention Worker (Allied Health Grade 3, Nursing Grade 4). In addition to the above mentioned, you will also:

  • Highly developed and demonstrated clinical skills with at a minimum number of years working in Mental Health (5 years for Allied Health, 7 years for Nursing).
  • Be a Board Approved Supervisor or eligible to enrol in PBA endorsed training (for Psychologists)
