About the role

You will contribute to the environment, health and wellbeing of Inner West Council’s current and future population through detailed analysis, evidence-based planning and site recommendations in Parks and Open Space. This role is responsible for leading in community engagement, planning, development and master planning of Parks and Open Space through the preparation of park plans of management and masterplans for parks. Short to long term costing analysis and the development of site-specific policies for park management. In developing Park Plans of Management and Park Master Plans you will ensure that opportunities are identified for quality improvements and that planning takes into account the equitable allocation of recreation and sporting opportunities within parks, balancing the needs of various user groups. This role will undertake high levels of community engagement in the development of plans and will also work collaboratively across Council to ensure that both internal and external stakeholder engagement is undertaken.

This role is also responsible for the assessment and evaluation of Development Applications relating to Open Space provision (both private and public development) and the assessment of public domain improvements which facilitate community recreation opportunities. This role must have a good understanding of community recreation needs and Councils long term strategies for improving recreation and Open Space provision. This role will also participate in the preparation of s711 plans for Open Space.

Working as part of the Parks Planning and Ecology team, you will manage your work to ensure you meet the targets and commitments against your individual and teamwork plans and Council’s Operational and Strategic Plans

Remuneration

$96,228.08 to $107,765.32 + 11% Superannuation

Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications

  1. Tertiary qualifications in planning or a related discipline OR equivalent industry experience in community engagement, local government experience in working within the public domain
  2. Ability to assess community recreational needs
  3. Ability to assess and provide qualified advice on Development Applications
  4. Experience in community engagement and report writing. Demonstrated experience in reviewing, assessing and drafting reports.
  5. Class C Motor Vehicle Driver’s Licence.
