The Parks Infrastructure Officer provides the delivery of park infrastructure maintenance and safety inspections in Darebin’s parks and open spaces, and fosters a safety-orientated culture to drive service improvements and achieve Council objectives.

About the Role The Parks Infrastructure Officer is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of park infrastructure management and services throughout the municipality. Portfolio areas include but are not limited to the management of Parks Infrastructure throughout all parks and reserves, playspaces, sportsgrounds and facility open spaces.

This role has a strong commitment to partnering with Traditional Owners, community and stakeholders to enable the sustainability of the environment and urgency around addressing climate emergency and social justice.

  • Work in a team environment to implement the operational needs in parks and open space areas
  • Implement monthly and quarterly inspections of playspaces and other park infrastructure
  • Collaborate with the other areas of Council that are engaged in infrastructure management, such as landscape architects, strategic planners, designers, engineers and liaisons
  • Assist delivery of departmental priorities and contribute to an inclusive workforce that drives Darebin’s values and enables strategic change
  • Work in a safe and responsible manner in compliance with Council's Occupational Health and Safety policies and legislative requirements

Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of park infrastructure management and service delivery
  • Experience with infrastructure management tools/software, OH&S requirements and contractors (desirable)
  • Highly developed problem solving, written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in inspecting sites, analysing factors, consulting with clients and making recommendations for works related to Parks Infrastructure (desirable)
