Attendance Requirements: 3 days per week (9am to 5pm)

The main purpose of this role is to work collaboratively with the Careers and other key staff to ensure students¿ learning progression through Years 9-10 includes a range of experiences to assist in establishing pathways for their future and to achieve a positive transition to work and/or further study.

Some work will be performed with Year 11 and 12 in consultation with Industry Partners.

Identifying education opportunities, focusing on skill requirements and bridging the connection between industry partners and educators is fundamental. Mapping the skills and competencies that support the STEAM jobs of the future and build connections between school and external opportunities is crucial.

This role also works with the relevant Assistant Principal regarding Occupation Health and Safety.  The monitoring of Contractors who visit our site to ensure insurances, safe work method statements and working with children checks is paramount to covering risks for the School. 

This role monitors the programme of works as per the hazards listed in AIMS which enables schools to identify, record and manage risks to school assets.  The programme of works prioritises maintenance activities to lessen and prevent adverse impacts to those assets ie buildings and grounds.  The role will liaise closely with the maintenance team to ensure tasks are monitored and completed in the required timeframe.  

An education support class position at this range will perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.

An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of a teacher as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students can be required individually or in groups up to 4 in controlled circumstances and where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

An education support class position at this range commencing at the base will initially be limited to undertaking routine tasks that are carried out under close supervision and direction. Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established, and direction is readily available. Subject to any specific qualification and/or training requirement, an education support class employee employed in this range may be progressively required to undertake coordination, specialised student/teacher support tasks, or technical tasks as experience in the role is gained.
