Passenger Service Assistant

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about customer service and who are interested in launching a career as a Passenger Service Assistant across our Adelaide metro passenger train services.

This is a great opportunity to be paid to learn with no previous industry experience required. We are committed to investing in our people and will provide paid training to ensure you are job ready.

You will be responsible for delivering day-to-day effective and efficient public transport services on the Adelaide Metro Passenger train network. This will include:

• Deliver “Think like a Passenger” customer service to ensure that customers enjoy a high level of punctuality, safety and reliability
• Provide advice to the public and customers on relevant aspects of the public transport system
• Check tickets and ensure compliance
• Manage conflict
• Report Writing
• Perform operational activities for the safe working environment, including monitoring the access and integrity of the network, conducting customer surveys and load checks, assisting customers on all matters regarding the ticketing system, door management and right of way
• Shift working in accordance with a seven-day rotating roster over 365 days per year, including early mornings, nights, weekends and public holidays

About you

• Experience in providing rail Passenger Services will be highly regarded OR
• Demonstrated customer service experience ideally in a safety sensitive environment
• Team player
• Excellent and effective communication skills both verbal and in writing
• Community minded approach with the confidence to deal with issues in an assertive manner
• Experience in applying conflict resolution skills
• Ability to remain calm and be resilient in times of pressure
• Continual learning focus – eagerness to learn new systems, processes and procedures
• Experience in a role which requires a high level of compliance or regulation
• Ideally you will have some experience working a 24/7 rotating shift
• You will be committed to ensuring a Zero Harm workplace and must be able to complete a Rail Safety Pre-Employment medical which includes a Drug and Alcohol Screening
• All successful applicants will require a current National Police check and SA Working with Children Check
