Pathology Quality Manager

  • Full Time ongoing role – 80 hours per fortnight with monthly paid day off

Melbourne Health Pathology is a service within the Access Critical Care and Investigative services (ACCIS) division of the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH). We provide inpatient services at the City and Royal Park campus, including Melbourne Private Hospital and operate a busy outpatients collections service for visitors to the precinct.An exciting opportunity is available for a suitably qualified medical laboratory scientist to join the RMH Pathology Leadership team as the Quality & Point of Care Test (PoCT) Manager. We are looking for an experienced medical laboratory scientist with a passion for quality assurance principles to provide leadership and direction for pathology accreditation across a broad scope incorporating laboratory and PoC testing.Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will be accountable for the Quality Management System (QMS) ensuring it meets the needs of our clients, operational objectives, and the various regulatory requirements.Your new role:
  • Incident Management – Investigate and determine root cause of events to implement appropriate and proportional corrective actions.
  • Quality Management – Ensure the service is performing to the highest standard, meeting internal and regulatory requirements, supporting lab staff with education and training.
  • Procedure Management – Review and update organisational documents as required, circulating policy and procedure to staff, promoting awareness and appreciation.
  • Stakeholder Management – Foster internal and external relationships across the precinct to promote a culture of collaboration and innovation
About you:
  • You are a medical laboratory scientist who can demonstrate an in depth understanding of ISO and NPAAC requirements.
  • You are familiar with the accreditation lifecycle and are always accreditation ready.
  • You are looking to expand your leadership skills and have a passion for continued professional development.
  • You have high level communication skills that you can adapt for a variety of audiences or to influence outcomes.

The new model for delivering public pathology services will present an exciting opportunity to improve the scope, scale and reach of pathology services and testing capability to all Victorians.As this role is with the Royal Melbourne Hospital, the successful candidate for this role will be initially employed by Melbourne Health.
