Patient Care Assistant

This is a Recruitment Pool for Permanent Full Time, Permanent Part Time, Fixed Term Full Time, Fixed Term Part Time appointment/s with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency. We are looking for Patient Care Assistants for who are passionate about delivering a high quality patient focussed service and contributing to an organisation that makes a real difference to the lives of people in our community.

About the Opportunity

As Patient Care Assistant you will provide support of clinical staff (Doctors, Nurses and Allied Health Professionals) by contributing to a team approach in the provision of high quality Patient Care. Patient Care Assistants at Royal Perth Hospital are required to work a rotating roster of morning, afternoon and night shifts.

Qualification and Experience

  • Completion of Certificate Two or equivalent in Australian Qualification Framework or commitment to undergo training and completion of Certificate Two in a relevant field (e.g. Community Services – Aged Care Work or Hospital-based PCA).
  • Demonstrated competence in assisting nurses with tasks and duties related to the care of patients.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in manual handling principles and techniques.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills.
  • Extensive experience in working as a part of a team.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to manage time and to prioritise tasks.

Home to the State Major Adult Trauma Service, RPH offers tertiary-level emergency medicine, mental health, complex and elective surgical care, and specialist medical services. This recruitment pool will be open until 30 June 2024, and the following should be noted: 

  • The panel will monitor this recruitment pool for applications throughout this timeframe and will assess on a regular basis.
  • Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool and appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur within any EMHS facility until 30/06/2024.
