The Role

StewartBrown are looking for a candidate to join our specialised Payroll Forensics Audit Team in 2024. As a graduate auditor, you will be given the opportunity to gain exposure to the provision of audit services in a professional working environment.

As a specialised Graduate Auditor, your will develop skills to enable you to;

  • Conduct detailed audits of payroll records to identify compliance discrepancies, errors, wage underpayments and/or potential fraud
  • Analyse payroll data and ensure compliance with company policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Review and interpret multiple Industrial Awards and EBA application
  • Investigate and analyse payroll transactions
  • Assist with the preparation of detailed audit reports outlining findings, recommendations and corrective actions
  • Understand the reporting requirements of different types of entities
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations as appropriate
  • Liaise with clients as directed
  • Conduct sample selections and tests of detail, extrapolation of errors
  • Develop an understanding of client payroll systems
  • Work collaboratively and independently with a high functioning team

What you can offer StewartBrown

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Completed a degree in Commerce/Accounting in 2023
  • Willingness to apply for the CA/CPA
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (this role will have client-facing interactions)
  • Demonstrated fluency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • A work ethic that consistently demonstrates flexibility, adaptability, and logical thinking in your approach to tasks
  • An eagerness to learn and grow within a professional services firm
  • Australian citizenship or residency or legal working entitlements within Australia
  • Proven experience in accounting, payroll and/or finance (not essential)
  • Interest in not-for-profits (not essential)
