Payroll Manager $140k - $150k + Super + Parking + Benefits

Location: Western Sydney
Salary Package: $140k - $150k + Super + Parking
Role highlights: Australian leading MFCG, retailer is seeking a Payroll Manager to join their dynamic and high performing team. Oversee day to day while leading process improvement projects.

Role Overview

Your role as a Payroll Manager will be directly reporting to the Financial Controller and will be accountable for the day to day running of the payroll function. You will be looking to continually improve the payroll processes and systems, ensuring the company comply with all relevant legislation applicable to the business. Part of your role will be to assist with the creation of new processes and procedures for the payroll team. This role will be pivotal in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the payroll operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full processing of payroll (head count of 500+ employees)
  • Build, manage, develop and coach the payroll team ensuring strong engagement within the payroll team. Provide training and guidance to foster a collaborative team environment. Team of 3.
  • Act as a true business partner across the group, specifically working closely with the People and Culture team and Finance function.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of changes in legislation, awards and tax obligations. Ensure internal controls are in place and followed across the group.
  • Manage payroll system integrity and efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to maximize the utilization of the payroll system, supporting the implementation of system improvement initiatives.
  • Review and approve external reporting related to payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting standards.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders, vendors and customers.
  • Navigate new system implementation and provide renewed processes and methods.
  • Preparing monthly payroll reporting

Candidate Profile

  • You have demonstrated solid full function payroll background with a proven leadership track record
  • A thorough understanding of payroll systems and a track record of building efficiencies and process improvement.
  • You have displayed an outstanding ability to engage with the business and mentor and develop a team of payroll specialisits
  • Demonstrable leadership experience of a payroll team
  • Have exposure to interpreting complex awards and ensuring award compliance
  • Proficient in payroll software and able to gain improvements on current processes
  • Possess excellent communication skills including both written and verbal.
