PAYROLL TEAM LEADER

For the past 30 years, millions of happy Australians have chosen Spendless Shoes as their preferred footwear retailer. With over 200+ stores, 1,500 amazing team members, and a huge range styles to suit every member of the family, it’s no wonder they call us ‘The World’s Friendliest Shoe People’.

The Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Team Leader to join the Spendless Finance Team. You will play a pivotal role delivering exceptional customer experiences to our Shoe Crew, leading the PAYROLL TEAM, and most importantly ensuring all our team members are paid accurately and on time.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in leading and developing a payroll function, within a similar sized business, whilst maintaining a hands-on approach to business-as-usual activities.

Key requirements to be successful in this role:

  • Excellent customer service focus
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Experience with:
    • Managing the end-to-end payroll function in a medium sized organisation (1,500 team members)
    • Relevant payroll solution environment (eg: Dayforce SAP, MicrOpay, CHRIS21).
    • Time & Attendance software in a roster-based environment.
    • Uploading bank files relating to payroll, taxation, and superannuation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of:
    • State-based payroll related tax legislation, including long service leave calculations and preparation and submission of payroll tax via online portals.
    • Superannuation legislation and payment requirements.
    • Award interpretation.
    • Generating Employment Agreement letters
  • A passion for reviewing and improving payroll process, procedures, and work practices.
  • Proficiency in Excel is a must (intermediate to advanced skills)

The ideal candidate:

You will have a strong emphasis on teamwork and providing a high level of customer service to our Shoe Crew. You will be an excellent communicator with great interpersonal skills. A proactive problem-solving approach and the ability to work independently or as part of a team is a must. Of course, you will also be familiar with financial reporting processes and procedures and have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Why join Spendless Shoes?

We offer a great team culture, a supportive and collaborative working environment, opportunities for growth in the role, generous 30% team discount, on-site parking, and a competitive salary that rewards your experience and expertise.

At Spendless we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role, have the drive and willingness to succeed, we’d love to hear from you. Please express your interest in this opportunity by uploading your cover letter and resume. Confidentially assured.
