About the opportunity

PARC programs are collaborative services between Wellways and Melbourne Health through its division North Western Mental Health service (NWMH). Our multidisciplinary recovery teams are creative, motivated and focused on ensuring positive experiences for participants and their loved ones.

The Peer Recovery Worker role is unique as it requires someone with a lived experience of mental health challenges to share their personal experiences and assist participants, their families, clinicians and the community better understand the participant perspective. You will support participant and carer engagement and empower other individuals in their own pathway to recovery.

PARCs operate 24/7 on a rotating roster. Flexibility in availability and willingness to work sleepover, afternoon and weekend shifts is highly regarded. Penalty rates apply for relevant hours.

This role requires the successful candidate to be available for the below shifts every week:

  • Tuesdays 1.00pm- 9.00pm
  • Friday 8.30am -4.30pm
  • Saturday 8.30am-4.30pm

About the program

PARCs are a step up, step down short-stay residence that provides clinical and psychosocial support to participants, to prevent the need for hospitalisation or after an inpatient stay to support ongoing recovery.

Our focus is on recovery and supporting individuals to live independent and fulfilling lives in the community. We do this by working in close partnership with clinical and other partners, the person with the mental illness, their families and friends. It is our goal to assist people in their own pathway to recovery.

All our recovery services value cultural diversity, support and create opportunities for recovery, value peer participation, and leadership and are underpinned by evidence-based best practice.

What do you need?

  • Lived experience of mental health challenges
  • Relevant qualifications or commensurate experience working in the mental health sector
  • Current valid Driver’s License and the ability to undertake some travel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Right to Work within Australia
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
  • Satisfactory National Police Records Check and Working with Children's Check – Employee (prior to commencement are mandatory)
