As the Peer Wellbeing Navigator - AOD, you will work alongside consumers to provide intensive support to enable individuals to address their psychosocial, emotional and alcohol and other drug needs. You'll provide 1:1 therapeutic psychosocial and alcohol and other drug education and intervention. Where relevant, you'll also draw upon your own experiences of recovery to support consumers to understand their experience and aid recovery and self-management.

About you

This role is identified for someone who feels comfortable to draw on their personal lived experience of alcohol and other drugs and recovery to support their peers in our community on their own recovery journey.

You're empathetic and relish opportunities to make meaningful difference in the lives of people in our community.

You will also be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, including alongside clinicians and team members who have lived and living experience of mental health challenges or as carers of loved ones who do.

Main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Providing intentional peer support
  • Providing one on one service navigation and care planning
  • Facilitating group peer sessions
  • Capacity building
  • Supporting engagement with treatment supports

You will also need:

  • Certificate IV/Diploma in AOD/Mental Health/Peer Work or tertiary qualification in social science or 1+ year relevant work experience in the Mental Health Sector or Intentional Peer Support Training
  • Personal experience of recovery from mental illness and substance use, accessing and navigating health care services, including mental health/AOD services, and a willingness to draw upon your experiences and recovery journey to inform your work.
  • 100 points of identification
  • Evidence of right to work in Australia

  • Working with Children Check - Blue Card
  • NDIS Workers Screening Check
  • NDIS Workers Orientation Modules - free online course
