Mental Illness Fellowship of Australia (NT), (MIFANT), is a leading non-profit organisation providing services for children and young people at risk of developing a mental illness and people living with a mental illness and their carers and families.
MIFANT is the NT representative of the nationally recognised organisations: Mental Illness Fellowship of Australia and Mental Health Carers Australia and have been providing services in the NT for over 30 years.
The Role
The recovery worker will use their own mental health lived experience to support clients to identify and achieve their recovery goals and also to engage and participate at Mi Place.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist people with a mental health issue to develop a recovery plan.
- Work with clients to support them to achieve their goals in line with their recovery plan.
- Facilitate group sessions ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
- Engage with clients to increase participation in Mi Place activities .
Requirements for success
- Mental Health Lived experience and ability to acknowledge and manage own mental health in a work setting.
- Qualification cert 4 or above in Peer Work, Mental Health, Community Services, or a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role.
- Ability to understand accountability to self and clients in relation to sharing your personal mental health lived experience.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate group activities.
- Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Programs.
- Demonstrated experience of working effectively with clients with mental illness and in particular working with people who have often disengaged from services.
- Experience in working with a recovery model of practice
- Demonstrated strong boundaries
- Demonstrated ability to provide client support in a culturally appropriate environment working with adults from a diverse range of backgrounds, including working with the indigenous community and people from CALD backgrounds
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
