The opportunity:
Supervise the area of responsibility to ensure that the appropriate level of care, enrichment and husbandry is provided to ensure welfare, animal husbandry and training standards are maintained for the relevant animal group and to ensure all presentations, animal adventures and animal exhibits are presented at the highest possible standards.
Your day to day:

• Undertake animal husbandry and exhibit maintenance task for the Antarctic penguins to maintain excellent health
• Assist with the presentation standards of the Penguin Encounter exhibit and provide recommendations to the Management Team to ensure quality
• Develop an understanding of animal training and conditioning techniques and behavioral enrichment to be able to maintain appropriate behavioral management of penguins.
• Liaise with the Head of Marine Sciences, Veterinarian and Curators regarding animal health and welfare
• Purchase to budgetary requirements all required equipment and consumables other than animal food
• Supervise and perform relevant educational talks and interactive tours
• Store, maintain and ensure correct use of all relevant marine animal enrichment and activity equipment/items for the relevant animal collection

What you'll bring:

• Relevant tertiary or exhibited animal qualification is essential
• Leadership experience of a bird exhibition is essential
• Open Driver's License is essential
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work cohesively in a dynamic team environment
