The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced People and Culture Advisor to join our Corporate team at State Swim's head office in East Fremantle in a part-time capacity (four-days per week). This close-knit team oversees operations and supports our entire organisation, consisting of approximately 700 employees, most of whom are employed on a casual basis.
As the sole HR professional, this role demands a seasoned HR skillset, with expertise and experience across the entire employee lifecycle. Essential experience includes a proven track record in delivering HR strategy, working closely with a leadership team, and a strong knowledge of industrial relations.
The People and Culture Advisor will:
- Be responsible for the day-to-day HR operations and the State Swim HR email inbox.
- Develop and implement State Swims HR strategy, aligning with and supporting the businesses overarching goals and vision.
- Oversee the entire employee lifecycle; contract management, onboarding, performance and offboarding procedures.
- Manage recruitment and onboarding processes for permanent employees, including posting job openings, screening candidates, and coordinating interviews.
- Develop and deliver HR-related training programs, coaching and upskilling State Swim Managers.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, implementing policies and training to mitigate risks.
- Support the leadership team through organisational change.
- Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, collaborating on the overall State Swim strategy and HR initiatives.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases, liaising with other teams as needed.
Who You Are:
- Master's or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a human resources generalist or similar role, desirably having responsibility for the HR function.
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment law and legislation.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- High level of integrity, objectivity, and commitment to confidentiality.
- Positive attitude, high attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.
- Comfortable working at a fast pace and prioritising objectives in a rapidly evolving environment.
