The Women’s People and Culture team is responsible for providing effective strategic and operational services which uphold the Women’s values and support the employment and workforce needs of the Royal Women’s Hospital. The People and Culture team supports the Women’s to achieve its goals through the formation of strong partnerships with leaders and employees, building capability, aligning practice to strategy, and integrating with other functions to create value in the provision of human resource management services across the employee continuum.

The role that could be yours

The Women’s People and Culture team seeks a skilled and capable business partner to join our effective, warm, results-oriented and people-focused team. This is an active internal partnering role, with responsibility for the provision of strategic and operational guidance and support to at least one Division. Key stakeholders include executive, directors, managers and employees, along with your People and Culture colleagues. The role provides the challenge of managing varied work at scale, day to day provision of advice, coaching and leadership on a variety of people-related matters, coupled with contributions to the implementation of strategic initiatives and value-add projects. Undertaking this role will see the incumbent have opportunities to problem solve, sharpen their insights, grow personally and professionally, all while making a positive difference to our team and organisation. Being part of this team affords excellent flexibility with a hybrid work model (typically 3 days per week onsite) and there is a genuine openness to balancing operational and personal needs wherever possible.

Your skills, capabilities and qualities

This role would suit an established business partner currently operating as a confident self-starter, capably providing sound advice, interpretation and coaching. To be successful within this role you will need:

  • Tertiary qualification in HR or relevant discipline
  • Sound experience as an internal HR partner and excellent client service
  • Strong business acumen along with an enquiring and analytical mind
  • Ability to have challenging conversations to mitigate risk, build capability and deliver required outcomes
  • Outstanding focus and care for people and ability to rapidly build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
  • Self-assured, ability read the dialogue / setting, pragmatic, tenacious and approachable
  • Highly motivated, growth mindset, desire to make a difference

Vaccination Requirements

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement

In line with the Health Minister's Covid-19 Mandatory Vaccination Order, all workers at the Women's regardless of role, will be required to be fully vaccinated (3 doses) for COVID-19 or hold an acceptable medical exemption.

Influenza Vaccination Requirement

In line with the Health Services Amendment (Mandatory Vaccination of Healthcare Workers) Act 2020, some health care workers are now required to have their flu vaccination to work in health care. Evidence of vaccination is required. As this role fits into category C of the departments risk ratings, applicants are strongly encouraged (although not required) to be vaccinated against influenza.

Selection Criteria Essential: Do you have tertiary qualifications in at least one of the following disciplines: HR Management, Psychology, Organisational Development, Business or a related and relevant discipline?
Essential: Can you demonstrate the ability as an internal consultant and partner in the provision of tactical day-to-day HRM advice, and the provision of support, coaching and leadership on complex matters that meet the needs and expectations of stakeholders?
Essential: Can you show solid experience influencing culture through provision of advice and coaching, including the formulation and delivery of culture-shift strategies to strengthen required positive behaviours of individuals and teams?
Essential: Do you have strong ER experience, particularly in building performance, coaching leaders, case managing underperformance and disciplinary matters, resolving disputes / issue resolution, running conduct investigations and closing out matters?
Essential: Do you have strong knowledge of current industrial relations and employment law including sound knowledge of heath sector enterprise agreements and industrial instruments?
Essential: Are you a citizen or permanent resident for work purposes in Australia?
