As lead of the People and Culture Team, the People and Culture Business Partner provides strategic and operational guidance, advice and support in relation to employee, employment and industrial matters as well as building the capability of our leaders at all levels to support and develop our workforce to ensure performance and delivery.
Your role
Working collaboratively with senior leadership and more broadly across the organisation, the role will:
- provide high level specialist HR services and advice across a range of complex Human Resource management matters
- provide regular reporting, metrics, analysis and interpretation as required to support decision making by leaders across the organisation
- support the embedding of Council’s values through integration of policies, practices and systems across business units
- support people management throughout the employee life cycle
- manage complex industrial relations issues and matters to ensure the best result for Council
- oversee payroll processes and ensure timely and accurate delivery.
- assist with the review of HR systems.
What you will bring
- Substantial knowledge of HR / industrial relations legislation, frameworks and processes.
- Well-developed knowledge and extensive practical experience consulting and advising on a broad range of complex people management issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate across all levels within the organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to provide specialist expertise, advice and coaching to leaders and managers across employee engagement, case management, workforce planning, employee relations, industrial matters, performance management, reward and recognition, and recruitment and selection decisions.
- Experience in leading a team, whether direct reports or a project team, including the ability to motivate others to achieve their expected goals and objectives.
- Experience in HR systems and/or recruiting platforms would be an advantage.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work co-operatively, professionally and with integrity with a diverse range of people.
- Tertiary qualifications in a Human Resources Management, Organisational Psychology, or business related discipline and/ or equivalent experience in a medium to large multi-disciplinary organisation.
