About the role:

Cessnock District Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and proactive Registered Nurse to join their team, within the Theatre Department setting.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of person-centred, evidence-based nursing care that promotes positive health outcomes in the Operating Theatres.

The Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the Multidisciplinary Healthcare Team.

The Registered Nurse will assist in the provision of supervision and support for less experienced clinicians and will maintain their professional accountability and development in accordance with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Competency Standards. Further to this the Registered Nurse will align their professional conduct with those of the NSW Health CORE Values.

  • Cessnock is located only a short distance away from the Hunter Valley vineyards and is the administrative centre of the City of Cessnock Local Government Area. It is a vibrant town, surrounded by countryside and full of affordable dinning and accommodation and home to the Cessnock District Hospital. It is a 64-bed facility that provides emergency, surgical and general medical care to the area’s growing population.

Requirements:

Our successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.

  • You will be a hardworking and enthusiastic individual who can persevere in challenging situations.
  • You will have excellent interpersonal skills for facilitating positive, effective working relationships and possess the ability to adapt to different communication styles as well as able to communicate sensitively with patients and their families/carers.
  • You will have strong time management and organisational skills for this dynamic environment and will confidently be able to delegate aspects of care to ENs and AINs according to their competence and within their scope of practice.
  • Anaesthetic and Recovery experience is preferred.
