About the Role
UnitingCare Wesley Bowden (UCWB) is looking for individuals who are able to demonstrate previous success in supporting people with complex needs, focusing on those who are aged. You will have the pleasure of making a difference to people's lives by joining an organisation that has 140 years of history in delivering services to the community. Our Personal Care Workers are accountable to the Manager, Service Delivery and Support and are responsible for providing support to individuals and their families to remain independent in living their life the way they choose, in their community.
Casual and Permanent Part Time positions available (part time is approx. 10 - 25 hours per week based on availability).
Services that are provided by our Personal Care Workers include:
- Personal care services e.g. assistance with showering, toileting, grooming
- Cleaning and household services
- Shopping services
- Meal preparation services
- Social and transport services
- General life skills and working towards goals
You will receive a tailored and comprehensive onboarding and induction process that will introduce you to our organisation and prepare you for the role.
About You
You will be someone who is sensitive to the particular needs of vulnerable people, including the aged, people with intellectual and physical disabilities, and their networks and families.
You will have:
Certificate III level qualification in Individual Support, Ageing Support or Disability - must have completed the ‘Meet personal support needs’ unit or other approved Personal Care training in addition to support work experience
Current First Aid and Manual Handling Certificates
Current DHS Working with Children Clearance, NDIS Worker Check and a National Police Clearance or ability to obtain prior to commencement of employment
Current SA driver's licence
Availability to work across a variety of shifts on weekdays (Casual and Permanent Part Time positions available - part time is approx. 10 - 25 hours per week based on availability)
Own transport with comprehensive insurance suitable for transporting mobility aids
Willingness and ability to perform domestic tasks
Excellent interpersonal skills
Physical fitness appropriate for duties being undertaken
A commitment to the program's success and to attend relevant training
The ability to communicate and use a smart phone/tablet for telephone and electronic communication
