About us:
The Pharmacy team provides dispensing and clinical pharmacy services to all areas of the hospital. The Cancer Care pharmacist works closely with the Cancer Care Service Team to provide outpatient chemotherapy to oncology and haematology patients in the Oncology Day Unit.
About the role:

  • The successful candidate will function as part of a team and is responsible for the provision of high-level client focussed pharmacy services to patients in the Cancer Care service of Gladstone Hospital.
  • Delivers high level clinical pharmacy and dispensing services to the Cancer Care Service including the provision of patient counselling, advice and consultancy services based on advanced knowledge with infrequent need for direct clinical practice supervision.
  • Applies evidence-based practice including in depth checking of all chemotherapy protocols, ensuring that treatment is appropriate and correctly funded, monitoring of biochemical parameters of patients and advice to healthcare staff on the management of adverse effects to ensure safe and effective treatment.
  • Liaise with patients and their families, other health professionals, supervisors, students and researchers, as required to ensure continuum of care.
  • Provide in-service training to clinicians and nursing staff, students and provide patient education sessions for small groups.
  • Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within the team and by engaging in professional development activities such as the ClinCat competency framework.
About you:
To be successful in this role you must have:
  • A degree in Pharmacy is mandatory for this position. Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Pharmacist in Australia (or eligible for registration in Australia).
  • Proven experience in a clinical pharmacy position, preferably in Cancer Care and a demonstrated ability to apply evidence in a practical manner to achieve patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to consult, negotiate and maintain relationships with senior health professionals and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with electronic information management systems and to develop practice and system improvements to improve quality, safety and efficiency in delivering healthcare.

Total remuneration value of up to $152,776 p.a. is comprised of:
  • A salary between $124,435 - $133,901 p.a.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
