The Fundraising and Communications Division is responsible for ensuring that Cancer Council maintains a visible, engaging presence in the community; and to inspire and activate support from Victorians.

This is achieved through best-practice high volume direct marketing approaches; exceptional relationship management of high value supporters including major donors, charitable foundations, corporate partners and Gifts in Wills supporters; delivery of iconic fundraising events; and product sales and royalties through our retail arm.

The Partnerships and Philanthropy Unit is responsible for developing and implementing an effective relationship management approach with high value supporters to deliver significant and sustainable income to support the work of Cancer Council Victoria – working with major donors, charitable foundations, corporate partners and Gifts in Wills supporters.

About your opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Philanthropy Lead to play a key role in growing revenue and developing relationships with high value individuals, trusts, and foundations. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Partnerships and Philanthropy, your role will:

  • Manage an existing portfolio of charitable foundations to grow revenue through building professional, long-term relationships with administrators and trustees.
  • Prepare high-quality proposals, impact reports and acquittals.
  • Manage grants calendar to ensure relevant grant documentation is prepared and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Manage engagement and stewardship activities for trust and foundation representatives.
  • With support of the Senior Manager, Partnerships and Philanthropy, initiate and develop strategies to grow income from major gifts.
All about you

We are looking for someone with:

  • Relevant tertiary degree in social impact, marketing, communications, business, or related field and/or experience in fundraising, philanthropy, partnerships, business development or communications.
  • Strong writing skills with grant writing experience preferred.
  • Excellent relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of philanthropic giving principles as well as the current fundraising environment and trends.
  • Ability to foster a culture of growth, innovation and continuous improvement to drive results.
