About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane is seeking a Principal House Officer (PHO) in General Surgery to practice on a full-time basis commencing 5th August 2024 until February 2025.
Mater comprises a unique collocation of two public and four private hospitals, and our organisation provides care for over 500,000 patients each year. Located in beautiful, sunny Brisbane in South East Queensland, the city boasts a wide range of cultural attractions. Mater is a teaching hospital of the University of Queensland and clinicians are eligible for academic appointment to the university.
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation plus access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900
What you’ll be doing
Surgical PHOs are expected to provide surgical care to patients within the Mater Adult General Surgery Department.
The successful applicant should be competent at history taking, physical examination, ordering appropriate investigations, implementing appropriate management plans and conducting minor surgical procedures with consultant supervision.
You should be aware of quality and safety practices relevant to a Surgical Department.
About you
To be considered for the position applicants should have:
- General medical registration with AHPRA, or at least 12 months of practice in Australia or a region of Competent Authority as determined by AHPRA
- At least 3 years postgraduate experience
- Experience within a surgical department in an acute hospital setting.
The successful applicant will also need to be available to cover night shifts.
