About the role

The purpose of this role is to;

  • The Principal House Officer (PHO) participates in the provision, development and maintenance of an effective, efficient and equitable clinical service to Metro North patients under the supervision and direction of the Director, Consultants and Registrars in procedural services.
  • A STARs surgical (Plastic Surgery interest) PHO position will allow the successful candidate to be part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team covering Plastic Surgery and other multiple surgical subspecialities.
  • Provide clinical care to patients of the hospital and acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to develop clinical expertise. This is a non-training position. It is anticipated that candidates applying for this role have an interest in pursuing a career in Plastic Surgery.
  • Be involved in the care of patients under the Plastic Surgery team, as well as assist in operating theatre and outpatient clinics. Assist other members of the surgical team as needed.
  • Supervise and assist with the training of junior staff and undergraduates.
  • Collect and maintain records for the purposes of morbidity and mortality meetings of patients being treated at STARS.
  • Participate in the on-call roster at STARS.

Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Certified copies of the medical certificates and relevant information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
