PHO/Registrar 2025Rural Hospitals/Prison Health/Urgent Care

We’re excited to invite applications for Principal House Officers (PHO)/Registrars to join our dynamic team in 2025 under the supervision of our experienced GP/Rural Generalist Senior Medical Officers. You'll have the chance to deliver care across a variety of services, including our rural facilities, Prison Health Services, and the Ripley Satellite Hospital Minor Injury & Illness Clinic.

• Temporary Full-time and Part-Time opportunities from February 2025.

About the role

This fantastic opportunity allows you to immerse yourself in diverse settings such as rural hospitals, urgent care, and prison health. Successful candidates will rotate across at least three services (3-4 month terms), gaining unique insights into the incredible career opportunities West Moreton Health has to offer. This role is perfect for those looking to broaden their clinical experience and skills in emergency, inpatient care, chronic disease management and primary care. This is a truly unique opportunity to experience “cradle to grave” medicine in a supported environment across a variety of settings.

Our West Moreton rural facilities (Laidley, Gatton, Esk, Boonah) and Prison Health Services hold training accreditation with RACGP and ACRRM.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Passion for providing excellent clinical care to your community as a Principal House Officer.
  • Interest in delivering quality care in a primary care environment, inpatient and outpatient setting, and emergency departments across a variety of acuity and care needs.
  • Knowledge and practical application of the National Quality & Safety Standards through the delivery of safe and quality focussed patient centred care.
  • Excellent communication and team work skills across a variety of settings including in an emergency.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16 (PDF) ( https://www.health.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0009/150120/hed-0116.pdf )
  • Possession of a medical degree registered or eligible for general registration with AHPRA.
