About POP! Photography
POP! School is POP! Photography’s learning and development pathway. At POP!, we specialise in creating stunning modeling portfolios, portraits, and family photography, with a special focus on kids and teens. Operating across Melbourne and Sydney (with plans to expand quickly), our passionate team is dedicated to creativity, innovation, and excellence in photography. What to Look Forward To…
Learning and Development: Dive into both theoretical and practical aspects of photography. Our experienced team will mentor and guide you, offering invaluable insights into the art and business of photography.
Hands-On Experience: This internship isn’t just about boring observing; you’ll actively participate in shoot days, learning all the ropes of how a photoshoot is run, including lighting, setup, styling, and post-shoot production.
Project Opportunities: You’ll get to choose a project that interests you, allowing you to dive deep into a specific area of your choosing, be it photography, operations, sales, or marketing!
Industry Exposure: Work closely with experts in photography, entertainment, marketing, and business entrepreneurship, gaining diverse skills and knowledge.
Work Perks: Our office and studio is conveniently located near public transport and South Melbourne market. We have parking, a cafe AND gym onsite. All necessary equipment will be provided and expenses for coffee/tea and lunch will be covered on the days you are in.
What You’ll Learn
- Studio Operations: Immerse yourself in the daily operations of a professional photography studio. Understand the essentials of managing a successful photoshoot.
- Client Support & Customer Service: Assist clients throughout their photoshoot experience, helping them feel confident, special, and have fun in front of the camera.
- Studio Setup: Prepare for shoot days by mastering light manipulation and studio equipment setup to create stunning photographs.
- Post-Shoot Production: Learn crucial post-shoot techniques, including file management and basic editing.
- Marketing & Sales: Learn how to engage and nurture leads, handle enquiries, develop creative offers and marketing campaigns, and conduct post-shoot sales during viewing sessions.
Internship Details
- Duration: 12 – 15 weeks (up to 200 hours)
- Schedule: 1-2 days per week (flexible around your schedule between Monday and Sunday, with a preference for weekend availability).
- Start Date: end of June/ start of July 2024
- Location: South Melbourne, at our office and studio.
Who We’re Looking For: Enthusiastic, proactive and reliable individuals with a passion for photography and a keen interest in learning and development. You’re inquisitive, with great people and communication skills and a willingness to dive into various aspects of the photography business.
