The Opportunity
Thiess are seeking an experienced Planning Superintendent for a permanent employment opportunity.
As Planning Superintendent, you will be joining our team at our Curragh North Project, located 30kms from Blackwater in Central QLD where you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and effective maintenance planning and execution of our mining operations.

About the role
As our next Maintenance Planning Superintendent, you will be responsible for developing and implementing maintenance strategies, optimizing equipment reliability, and managing the maintenance planning team. You will collaborate closely with various departments, including operations, engineering, procurement, and maintenance, to drive continuous improvement and maximize equipment availability.
Working an 5/2,4/3 roster and reporting to the Maintenance Manager, your duties will include:

  • Provide leadership and mentoring to a team of mobile maintenance planners, to ensure short, medium, and long-term maintenance plans are developed and delivered.
  • Utilising the Maintenance Management System to generate Planned Maintenance and Major Component repair cost budgets
  • Liaising with internal and external suppliers to ensure the parts process is organised and staged for a given maintenance scheduled week.
  • Monitoring and Maintaining unit known work list Defect Reporting System and the on-site Condition Analysis Systems to ensure information is used to update the maintenance and service schedules
  • Liaise with Maintenance Supervisors to ensure short, medium, and long-term maintenance strategic objectives and key projects for Curragh works are communicated to maintenance crews during the daily meetings.
  • Provide clear performance expectations to direct reports and reinforce correct behaviour through feedback recognition and encouragement
  • Implement training and development needs for all direct reports
  • Minimising plant costs through continually investigating alternative suppliers for competitive pricing
About you

  • Mechanical trade or tertiary qualifications
  • Previous Plant Management experience preferable within the mining industry
  • Knowledge of job-specific computer programs essential (JDE preferred)
