The role
The Plant and Fleet Officer will oversee the management of Plant and Fleet assets, including vehicles, machinery, and equipment, within the council. The role will also be responsible for managing contract and lease agreements. This role involves ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of all Plant and Fleet items, coordinating purchases and disposals and managing maintenance schedules. Additionally, the Plant and Fleet Officer will be responsible for internal customer service, budget management, adherence to OH&S regulations, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
Key aspects of the role include the following.
- Manage financial aspects of contracts within approved limits, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Oversee and supervise contractors involved in small to medium projects related to Plant and Fleet maintenance and operations.
- Monitor budget performance and proactively identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements within Plant and Fleet operations.
- Provide maintenance services for fleet vehicles, machinery, and equipment under the guidance of the Team Leader Operational Asset Management.
- Administer contracts for cleaning, maintenance, sanitation, and security of fleet facilities, including database management.
- Assist in emergency management activities as required, including planning emergency evacuation procedures.
Key Selection Criteria:
Our ideal candidate will be able to show us the following.
- Relevant trade qualification as it relates to the position requirements.
- Experience in the supervision and administration of contracts for the provision of goods and services.
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills, with strengths in developing and managing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritise and organise a busy workload, with high attention to detail given to record keeping, database management and reporting requirements.
- Genuine interest in working within building, assets and facilities maintenance with the ability to be an effective member of a small close-knit, high-performing team.

Prior to commencement, the successful applicant will be required to provide the following.
- A copy of a recent National Police Check (less than 3 months)
- A current driver’s licence
- Any other mandatory requirements outlined in the position description (eg. first aid, CPR, WWCC, forklift).
The completion of a pre-employment functional assessment (paid for by the council) might also be required.
If applicable, evidence regarding right to work in Australia will need to be presented.
