About the Region

About the role

• Based in Wondai
• Permanent Full Time 
• $61K - $64K per annum + Allowances + Super

Council is seeking an operator to be an effective team member of a road maintenance or construction team in the use of plant in a safe and efficient manner. This position will provide high quality specialist operation of Council’s plant and equipment during road construction and maintenance operations, perform general labouring and undertake traffic control and implement traffic control plans as required. The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in the effective operation of mobile plant within a construction/maintenance environment together with knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques.

Additional Factors 

• Participation in after hours and weekend work is a requirement of this position
• Level of fitness required to undertake a broad range of physical tasks 
• Working outdoors in hot conditions

Mandatory Qualifications

• Minimum requirement of a current C Class driver’s licence
• General Safety Induction for Construction Worker (White Card)
• LB (Backhoe) Operator Ticket

Desirable Qualifications 

• LE (Excavator) Operator Ticket 
• Truck licence (HR) and other plant tickets/certifications 
•  Level 2 Traffic Management 
• Civil Maintenance & Construction experience

Skills and experience

• Demonstrated experience in the effective operation of mobile plant within a construction/maintenance environment together with knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve quarry, construction and maintenance standards.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain and service heavy plant and equipment (including pre-start inspections).
• Basic literacy, numeracy and oral communication skills.
• Sound understanding of and commitment to equal employment opportunity and workplace health and safety principles and practices.
