Job description

Family owned who manufacture and supply chilled and frozen meal solutions to Australian supermarkets and Foodservice operators.

Our Engineering department is looking for an experienced Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) Programmer to join us on an urgent basis.

As a PLC Programmer, you will be responsible for supporting troubleshooting on/and upgrading PLC programs for automation equipment. In addition to this, you should be testing the system efficiency and safety as and when required.
To be successful as a PLC Programmer, you should have a sound knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles and an exceptionally strong understanding of process. You should also have experience in finding faults in the system. Moreover, you should have an excellent ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.

Duties:

  • Reading and interpreting logical flow diagrams
  • Explaining to the stakeholders how electrical components operate
  • Using automation software to write PLC programs
  • Preparing documents to instruct the users how to use the device and other safety instructions
  • Testing the program using automation equipment for its reliability
  • Troubleshooting any faults in the system
  • Supervising the installation of PLC programs
  • Providing guidance and support to the Maintenance team
  • Offering training to the Technicians and other team members
  • Maintaining the PLC programs versions for equipment
  • Working in coordination with Engineering and Production teams
  • Creations of centralised SCADA system for accessing all equipment software for troubleshooting purposes
  • Successful implementation of BMS system for all plant e.g. refrigeration & HVAC systems, boilers, WWTP etc
  • Process improvement upgrades to optimise both critical plant as well as process equipment


Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Process Engineering, or a related degree
  • Working experience as a PLC Programmer, or a similar role in the Engineering industry
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software principles.
  • Extensive knowledge of PLC programming languages such as ladder logic, sequential function charts, etc
  • Experience working with either Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi software and components
  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software
  • Ability to solve complex problems
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent mathematics and arithmetic skills
  • A keen eye for details for accuracy
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
