About You
Our ideal candidate will hold a Certificate III in Plumbing as a minimum or the Certificate IV in Plumbing. You are required to be a licensed Plumber to be considered for the opportunity. Some other key skills and attributes we are seeking include:

Essential Requirements
- If you’re successful, you’ll need to provide a current registration to work with vulnerable people in Tasmania before you start the role.
The following requirements as detailed in the Australian Skills Quality Authority Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 are highly desirable but is not essential:
- TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its successor OR TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment + Two Gap Units OR A diploma or higher-level qualification in adult education.
OR
The equivalent of the above – refer to the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015.
- Specialist Vocational Education and Training registration granted by the Teachers Registration Board (Tasmania) in accordance with the provisions of the Teachers Registration Act 2000. This requirement only applies to teachers who will be working in Department of Education schools delivering VET in Schools programs.
If you do not hold the above qualifications, you may be eligible for an Associate Teacher role by holding or enrolling in the TAESS00028 - The Work Skill Instructor (WSI) Skill Set (or equivalent). Please submit your application and we will assess your suitability for this pathway.
As an Associate Teacher at TasTAFE, you will:
- Be enrolled in and complete The Work Skill Instructor (WSI) Skill Set qualification prior to your commencement date with TasTAFE.
- Be appointed initially on a 12-month fixed term contract.
- Be provided with on-the-job training.
- Be supported to undertake the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment whilst working, with the cost covered by TasTAFE.
- Be coached by an experienced teacher working in the same area as you.
- Have access to a mentor from within the organisation and have access to ongoing support and professional development.
- Upon successful completion of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification, and satisfactory work performance, you will become a permanent TasTAFE employee.
